Create an Exhibition
Learn how to create an Exhibition in AccessKit.
Accessing the Admin Dashboard
Start out by heading to the Admin Dashboard
homepage, which you can find at:
https://<your-subdomain>.accesskit.cc/admin
You will be prompted to log in if you have not previously logged in. Once logged in, you will
be able to see a list of Exhibitions
you have previously created along with Works
associated with each Exhibition
. For now, that should be blank for you.
Getting to know the Admin Dashboard
The Admin Dashboard
is a launchpad for your institution's control and functionality within AccessKit.
Here you can create new Exhibitions
and Works
, download the necessary BrightSign
script to sync media, and customize the look and feel of your AccessKit web application's guest view,
and conveniently use real-time controls for media players.
You can also toggle between your admin controls and the Guest View
for each Work
,
in order to preview your users' experience before it goes live.
Creating an Exhibition
What is an Exhibition?
An Exhibition
serves as a container for one or more Works
. It typically
corresponds to an actual exhibition which may be occurring at your gallery or
museum. Visitors and guests will be able to navigate to an Exhibition
via a
QR code
or through a direct link to see the list of Works
contained within
it.
To create an Exhibition
, click the + Exhibition
button in the top right corner of the Admin Dashboard
.
This will open a new form where you can enter some key information about your exhibition,
including the title, hero-images (and their alt-texts) that will be displayed in the list of Exhibitions
.
For now, let's enter the following information for the Exhibition
.
Field | Value to enter | Description |
---|---|---|
Exhibition Name | My First Exhibition | The name of the exhibition. |
Work Label | Work | Lists of works are rendered with a number and a label, like 5 Works . |
Exhibition Status | Upcoming | The status of the exhibition only affects internal organization of exhibitions in the Admin Dashboard. |
Published? | Unchecked | This determines whether users will be able to view the exhibition on the public-facing guest application. Logged-in admin users will always be able to view all exhibitions. |
Once you have entered the information, click the Create Exhibition button to submit the form.
You will be redirected back to the Admin Dashboard
, where you will see your new Exhibition
listed.
Editing an Exhibition
If you would like to edit the information for an Exhibition
, click the [edit] button next to the Exhibition
you would like to edit.
This will take you back to a similar form to the one you used to create the Exhibition
, where you can update the information.
Try changing the Exhibition Name
to My Updated Exhibition
and click the Update Exhibition button to update the information.
