Create a Work
Learn how to create a Work in AccessKit and upload captions for it.
Creating a work is very similar to creating an exhibition. From the Admin Dashboard homepage, click the + Work button. This will open a form where you can enter some key information about your work, including the title, captions, audio tracks and more.
What is a Work?
A Work is a piece of media (possibly with multiple video channels) that is displayed in an Exhibition.
It can be a video piece, audio piece, or even a 3D object which has audio associated with it!
Works typically have a single caption track (though possibly with multiple languages) and possibly an audio track or Audio Description track.
Guests can access synchronized versions of the captions and audio tracks from the gallery via the Guest View for that Work, which they typically access via a QR code or direct link.
Let's start out by filling out the New Work form with the following information:
Field | Value to enter | Description |
---|---|---|
Title | My First Work (John Doe, 2017) | The title of the Work, which can be stylized using emphasis, italics and underlines via the rich text editor. |
Exhibition | My First Exhibition [or whatever you named your exhibition] | Select the Exhibition that the Work belongs to from the dropdown of existing exhibitions. |
SRTs | Click add SRT to add a new SRT file. | A Work can have multiple SRT files, which are used to provide captions for the work. |
SRT File Upload > Choose File | AccessKit Demo SRT [or bring your own] | Click this button to add a new SRT file. |
Language Display Code | EN-US | The language of the captions, which is displayed to the guests when multiple languages are available. |
Language Descriptor | English | Longform language of the captions. |
Published? | Unchecked | This determines whether users will be able to view the work on the public-facing guest application. Logged-in admin users will always be able to view all works. |
All other fields can be ignored for now.
Once you have entered the information, click the Create Work button to submit the form. Once you have created the work, you will be redirected back to the Admin Dashboard, where you will see your new work listed.
As with Exhibitions, you can edit a Work by clicking the [edit] button in the Admin Dashboard next to the Work you would like to edit. This will take you to the same form as above.
