Create a multi-channel synchronized work
How to configure multiple BrightSigns to play a multi-channel synchronized work through the AccessKit Admin Dashboard
AccessKit can automatically configure BrightSign mediaplayers to work together to play a multi-channel synchronized work. This configuration can be done entirely through the AccessKit Admin Dashboard without any additional BrightAuthor/BrightSign configuration.
Requirements
Requirement | Description |
---|---|
AccessKit Work | You should have already created a work that you want to synchronize across multiple BrightSign mediaplayers. |
AccessKit BrightSigns | You should have at least two BrightSigns that have already been registered with AccessKit. |
Video files | You should have already added the correct video files to each of the BrightSigns. |
Shared network access | Each of the mediaplayers must be on the same local network (in addition to having outbound HTTP access to the internet). |
Enabling multi-channel sync
Assign each BrightSign to the Work
Find each BrightSign that is part of the multi-channel sync group in the list on the AccessKit Admin Dashboard home page, and open its configuration page by clicking on its name, which should be a link that looks like mediaplayer-[id].
From its configuration page, find the Linked Work field and select the Work that the BrightSigns are playing content for.
Set Leader
or Follower
for each BrightSign
Select exactly one of the BrightSigns to be the Leader
of the multi-channel sync group,
and all others to be followers. Find the field called Multi-channel sync mode
and update the
designated Brightsign to Leader
and the others as Follower
.
Disable Synchronize Linked Work
for the Follower
BrightSigns
For each of the BrightSigns that are Follower
s, find the Synchronize Linked Work
checkbox and uncheck it. Make sure that it is checked for the Leader
BrightSign.
Save configuration changes
Click the Update Mediaplayer button at the bottom of the form to save the configuration changes for each of the BrightSigns.
Restart the BrightSigns
Restart each of the BrightSigns either by direct power-cycling or via its
realtime controls page. Although it does not entirely
matter, it can be helpful the first time you test to ensure you reboot the Follower
mediaplayers first and let them finish booting up before powering the Leader
back on.
Achtung!
After the exhibition closes and you have de-installed, remember to re-enable
Synchronize Linked Work
and reset Multi-channel sync mode
to Solo
for
the BrightSigns so that they can provide synchronization signals for other
works in future exhibitions.
IP addresses
By default, the BrightSigns use administratively-scoped multi-cast IP
addresses, which AccessKit BrightSigns automatically join and use to discover
each other. If you have issues with BrightSigns not finding each other,
contact us with subject line Multi-channel sync IP addresses
and we can assist with configuring the usage of explicit IP
addresses.
Syncing with other devices
If you want to synchronize content with non AccessKit devices, you might want to check out creating custom event timelines and using other mediaplayer types.
