Create custom event timelines
Learn how to create custom event timelines for your AccessKit installation.
Custom event timelines can be used with AccessKit BrightSigns to use a BrightSign as a controller or message source for other devices - almost like a mini QLab!
These event timelines can include different types of events, such as GPIO signals to control electrical devices, UDP messages, and more.
Setting up a custom event timeline
Open the Event Timeline Editor
Find the BrightSign you want to create an event timeline for in the Admin Dashboard home page, and click on the [events timeline] button next to its name.
This will open the Event Timeline Editor, which will show a list of all the events that have been created for the BrightSign.
Create a new event
Click the New Event button to create a new event.
This will open a form where you can configure the new event.
Configure the event timestamp
Every event has a timestamp that it occurs at within the looping film on the BrightSign.
Enter the timestamp you would like the event to occur at
Configure the event type(s)
You can attach multiple Actions
to an event. Each Action
corresponds to a different
type of message that the BrightSign will send when the event occurs.
Each Action
has different form fields to fill out, e.g. the IP address of the target for
a UDP message, or the GPIO pin to control for a GPIO signal.
Save the event
Click the Create Timeline Event button to save the event.
This will save the event and add it to the list of events for the BrightSign.
Repeat steps 2-5 to create more events
Repeat steps 2-5 to create more events for the BrightSign.
Be sure to not add any events that occur after the timestamp of the end of the film.
Before switching mediafiles on the BrightSign, it is recommended to first delete any timeline events associated with the previous mediafile.
