Integrate with existing mobile guides
Learn how to integrate AccessKit with existing mobile guides.
There are a variety of ways to integrate AccessKit with existing mobile guides and web content that your institution already provides
Linking to the AccessKit application
The simplest way is to provide a direct link to the AccessKit public-facing application in an easy to find location or even sticky position in your mobile guide.
Your AccessKit public-facing URL will always be in the format:
You can link to it with a button or text link in your mobile guide.
Providing direct links
Every Work and Exhibition in AccessKit has a permalink URL, which is a direct link to that Work or Exhibition's AccessKit page. You can provide this link in your mobile guide on the corresponding page for a particular exhibition or work, or you could provide a list of multiple links, e.g. for each of the works in an exhibition on the exhibition home page in your mobile guide.
You can find the permalink URL for a work by clicking on the name of the work in the Admin Dashboard, which will take you to the guest view page, where you can then simply copy the entire URL from the browser address bar. The format is always like this:
For exhibitions, the same process applies for identifying the permalink URL, which will have the format:
You can always directly check the ID of a Work or Exhibition by clicking on the [edit] button next to its name in the Admin Dashboard and finding its ID next to its QR code at the bottom of the page.
IFrame embedding
You can directly embed the AccessKit application into your existing web pages by using a direct link to the permalink for a particular piece of media or even a whole exhibition.
For example, if you want to embed a particular work, you can find its ID by clicking on name of the work in the Admin Dashboard, which will take you to the guest view page, where you can then simply copy the entire URL from the browser address bar.
You can then use that permalink URL as an IFrame source, like this:
which should embed into your page like this:
NB: because this is a real AccessKit work, depending on the time of day you are viewing this page, you might see the synchronized captions or the static transcript, depending on if we are in our office or not!
